Trofé-inflasjon

Tidligere var «Årets Bil» begrenset til et par tre utmerkelser i forskjellige verdensdeler. Som regel dukket de opp mot tampen av året.

Nå er det Årets-Et-Eller-Annet hele året, og i så enorme mengder at jeg mistenker bilfabrikkene for å måtte opprette en ny avdeling for trofé-registrering.

Selv når Audi har skrellet bort det mest åpenbare tøvet, sitter de tilbake med ti solide applauser bare i november og desember. Utmerkelser av den typen som hadde medført helsides annonser for bare fem år siden.

Inflasjon
I dag er det ingen som vil annonsere for sine «Årets». Dels har de ikke råd til å gjøre det konsekvent, dels klarer ikke reklamebyråene å holde tritt med pokaltilstrømningen og – kanskje det viktigste – etter at det ble påvist hvordan ADAC hadde manipulert for å få «stemt frem» sine favoritter, er det vel egentlig ingen som tror på dette tøvet lenger.

Et eksempel: siden 2001 har det vært festligheter i Beograd, der man har delt ut noe som noen kaller Autobest. En pris for Årets Beste Bilkjøp i Europa. Nå har dette vokst såpass at juryen består av 26 personer fra store deler av Europa.

Hjemmesiden deres er full av forklaringer på hvorfor dette er viktig – og det norske medlemmet forteller at «I am excited and honoured to be chosen as Norway’s representative for the Autobest Jury… This represents a milestone in my automotive career, and I look forward to grow and develop together with Autobest in the years to come”.

Nesten 30 gravalvorlige herrer, de fleste på bortsiden av femti. Ikke et hunkjønn blant dem – og det er, regner jeg med siden alle er motorjournalister, ingen av dem som er personlig opptatt av Årets Beste Bilkjøp i Europa.

Men de har altså greid å velge Fiat Aega (Fiat hva???) til sin Årets.

Det er omtrent like viktig for meg å vite som at BMW 7-serien fikk prisen for «Årets Euro-Karosseri» i klassen «bærende konstruksjon med karbon i kjernen».
